The ’08 Daytona car have arrived at least at one of the two Targets in my area, the 1/64 cars are stuffed on the pegs (No End Cap Display) with the 2007 Winner Cars. The same with 24th cars on the shelves. Inventory seems to be backing up. The 1/64 are $4.94 and the 1/24 Hood Opens are $29.99.

The store did have 11 drivers in 1/64 cars, heavy on Jr. However, only 6 drivers in the 1/24 hood Open.

Now “The $64,000 Question”

How many drivers are going to be represented for the 2008 Daytona cars? All the qualifiers? Just the guaranteed starters? Or just those that WC/MA considers top tier/sellers?

I would say, just the ones WC/MA considers the top sellers. Jr, Johnson, Gordon, Hamlin, Stewart, Kahne, Harvick and maybe Burton and JPM. They may throw in a Bowyer.

WOW WC cars have really gone up in price!
Getting pretty costly for what they are.
Gezzz don't seem that long ago they were $19.95 or less.

Most of the Action cars I have gotten were less than $30.00.
Maybe it's just me but....before I pay that for the limited detail...
I'll pay that or a tad more for Action with much more detail.

Once the newness of the COT wears off they will come down in price I think.
Esp if they don't sell real good!

Just my 2 cents for what it's worth. :-\

If you were to buy a car that was really collectible, you wouldn't be getting an Action car for $30.00 or less.
You can keep buying the left over stock, and older less desirable cars like you have been, but when you want one that is in demand, you won't be getting the deals your getting.

the regular WC 1:24 are still under $20. what he was talking about being $30, is the new WC with the hood open. its kinda like an AP car. WC started these when they released the American Heros cars. the regular 1:24 went to walmart and the hood open of the same cars went to target.

HUH?
Sorry less desirable cars?
I don't call Gordon or Johnson less desirable.
Yeah the Charlott win wasn't all that exciting.
But the 2000 Elite don't sell for no $25 anywhere(I got lucky there)
Traded a Victory Lap Gordon for my COT....I paid $36 for the Victory Lap.

As for Johnson.....He is still up and coming you'll see His stuff hit a higher dollar.
I gave $25 for His Action 2002 Rookie Car MIB.

Retro cars from the old days are just going ape ----!
Can't believe what some of the Richard Petty cars are going for!!
Even Neil Bonnet "Custom" done cars sell for a wad.
Gordon's Sprint car or 1st NASCAR in Action or Elite are just way up there!!

It's all in what you like I guess.
YES I'm about to drop a $100 bill on a car that there was less than 500 made.
I'll let ya know when I score it.

The desrability of cars is not based on drivers. Every driver has what are considered "Dogs". More of them than the more sought after cars. As you collect you'll find this out.

I agree with FF. I can go on Ebay and find cars from ANY driver for less than $25 because of the mass-production days for Action. This includes Gordon, Johnson, Earnhardt, Petty, Dale Jr., Stewart... you name them, I can find them, especially if I am patient enough. However, there are some cars that will bring higher prices because of their rarity. However, patience will still bring you a lower price on them. A good example is the Truex Enterprise car-- it has recently sold on Ebay anywhere from $75 to $175. Not having to have one "right now" allowed me to get one on the lower end on the scale.

That's kinda what I meant DEMAND....esp the newer cars.
Don't take a long time for the demand to wear off and the price to come down.
I'm patient and I'm in no real hurry to get the latest and greatest.
The way PPL are snatching up COT's on evil bay for $65-$70 it won't take long for the price to crash.

I've been around a while and diecast isn't the first thing I have collected.
I have seen it happen before with many other collectables!

I paid $49 each for the 2008 Jr. COT's so far. With the production numbers up, these cars will be like the 2000's. I like the cars, so I bought them, but there was no way I was going to pay full retail for them. Looks like Action is trying to recoup their $60 million loss from last year off of Jr. alone now that he has a children-friendly sponsor. I guess that Action hasn't figured out the laws of Supply and Demand. I learned about those in 7th grade!!!
