I would say the COT was a hit-- NOT!! Here are a few of the headlines I've seen so far about NASCAR's great new car. Overall, the drivers either hate it or are "taking the fifth"!!

NASCAR.com-- posted right after the race-- "Suck-sess"

Local paper-- "Race-day verdict: Car of Tomorrow’s a lemon"

I didn't think it was that bad. It just looked 'different'. I didn't see it hindering competition or making racing any harder. It's just one race though, and Bristol at that. Gotta give it another go before it's judged too harshly. And like it or not, this IS the future of NASCAR.

It looks bad because the only people they asked were Busch, Gordon and Stewart. And Shrub made a big deal out of it in victory lane, so you know that is going to make the headlines. Most of the drivers like Junior, Harvick and Biffle are on more of a wait and see basis.

Jeff Burton didn't really like it either, but he was very diplomatic about it.

Two thumbs WAY UP for the Car of Today... it provided a much better race, and put the drivers back in control... so glad a local paper is the judge of the COT... I thought it loooked awesome, raced awesome, and is going to continue to improve.. looks like Im alone in this one, but I loved it.

If I wanted to watch import racing then I would watch that not nascar!! 2 thumbs down for the COT!!
Agreed. I wonder how the ratings will be for the COT races from here on out and for next year. I wouldn't be surprised if the ratings go down because of the COT. Not too many fans like the new look.

I agree as well. I tlooked great on the track and they actually got to race side by side again at Bristol. The top grrove came back in to play yesterday in that race. Can't wait to see how they do at Talladega.

I have to admit I wasn't that thrilled about the front spliter and rear wing and I'm still not fully sold on them yet. As I watched the cars go around the track it looked like it did take some of the aerodynamics from the car even at Bristol and put the handling back into the drivers hands. I saw a bunch of busy hands in those cars. This may be why a bunch of guys won't like the COT because they are so used to driving a car that handles prety good and aren't used to driving a car they have to man-handle like the years past.

Also on a side note...

Isn't it funny, they go to the COT that looks more like a euro street racer(honda toyota, mazda, ect.) with the wing on the back and it becomes the first race with more then just a few toyotas in the race. Could their be more then the reasons Nascar is giving why they are doing this.

Things to make you think about.

Now that you mention it I thought the same thing. Although Bristol is so close qualifying wise that it would be hard to stage it that way as it was 3 tenths from 1st to last excluding Kurt Busch who was way off the pace but was in via owner points. I'm also wondering how much longer it is before we do see Honda and Mazda in NASCAR....Is Toyota the first step to having an all out Import series? Only time will tell....

If it aint broke don't fix it. What's wrong with the current car? They enhanced a lot of the safety features on that one and since 2001 there hasn't been a serious injury or fatality thankfully. I think NASCAR is changing the car to please Toyota. Notice how both came in at the same time. I'm sure Toyota had plans to join the Cup series back when the COT was being developed and I'm sure they had a lot of input in the design of it so they could appeal to the "Ricer" market. Like it or not, don't you find it ironic that the COT that looks like a Ricerburner came in at the came time as Toyota? Makes you think...

as far as I am concerned, it's nice to give an agressive drive a RAZOR KNIFE on the front end to cut someone else's tire!! They need to change that, there were too many tire issues due to the car of TODAY!!!!!
