harley, they didn't take the whole car, it was just the intake manifold.

#55 manifold confiscated UPDATE: during pre-qualifying inspection, the intake manifold of the #55 NAPA Toyota of Michael Waltrip was confiscated by NASCAR, it didn't meet speiciations and the team had to install another one.(SPEED's NASCAR Live)(2-11-2007)
UPDATE: NASCAR officials confiscated the intake manifold off of the #55 Toyota Camry of driver/team owner Michael Waltrip during the Daytona 500 pre-qualifying inspection Sunday. Robin Pemberton, NASCAR's director of competition, said they will send the manifold to the NASCAR Research and Development Center in Concord, NC, on Sunday. "We'll do some tests on it [Monday]," Pemberton said. "Our inspector caught a substance inside that we didn't really know what it was." Pemberton would not give any specifics about the substance. Waltrip's team was allowed to place another manifold on the car and participate in qualifying. Pemberton was asked if the #55 team should expect a penalty because of the manifold problem. "We're not going to discuss penalties," Pemberton said. "We will evaluate the situation and have answers by the end of the week. But we won't speculate on it." Pemberton said the #55 manifold problem was not specific to any individual manufacturer

Kenseth, Kahne times disallowed; Waltrip's car impounded: #9-Kasey Kahne and #17-Matt Kenseth qualifying times/speeds been disallowed, both will start at the end of the 2nd Gatorade Duel race. The #17 and #9 cars were found to have illegal aerodynamic devices/enhancements. NASCAR's Jim Hunter said both infraction is considered as serious as the one that caused #48-Johnson's crew chief to be suspended after Daytona 500 qualifying last year. While the crew chiefs have not been suspended, NASCAR has not rules out anything, penalties are forthcoming. Also, the #55 Toyota was impounded by NASCAR and Hunter said the car would be inspected 'with a fine tooth comb'. Both Kahne and Kahne will be allowed to start their respective Duel 150's from the rear. No word on what will happen with Waltrip and the #55 team.(PRN's Garage Pass Radio Show), #17-Kenseth had qualified 11th, #55-Waltrip 25th, #9-Kahne 28th. See the revised qualifying results on my Daytona Qualifying/Grid Page.(2-11-2007)

Looks like Kahne and Kenseth will have substitute crew chiefs for the race. The infraction was altering the aerodynamics which is the same thing Chad Knaus did last year and got suspended for. But with the way NASCAR is with similar penalties I bet it won't be the same fine/suspension...

Pretty stupid move on Kahne and Kahnes team. If they were going to cheat, they could have at least qualified better than they did!
