Goncalvez back with Belardi for sophomore season - Racer.com
Venezuelan driver Jorge Goncalvez returns to Firestone Indy Lights for 2012 with Belardi Auto Racing for his second season. He'll be teamed alongside Israeli rookie Alon Day at the Brian Belardi-led squad.
Goncalvez, 20, finished fifth in the 2011 standings with four podium finishes, five top-fives and 10 top-10 results. He'll be looking to better those numbers and secure his first win in the same red No. 4 entry.
He already started the 2012 season well, as part of the podium-finishing team of three Daytona 24-hour debutantes and veteran Michael McDowell for Michael Shank Racing.
“I'm really excited to be reunited with my team for my second year in Indy Lights,” Goncalvez said. “It looks like I have a great teammate in Alon [Day], and I think we will have a very successful year. I have to thank my family and all my great sponsors for all of their support.”
