Harry Gant diecast listing.
I had prepared this list a while back and thought I would post it here. Let me know if you see anything that should be corrected.

I came across that one for sale before. I wasn’t sure if it was real or not so I did not add it. I thought it could have been a car that someone simply added decals to as decals are readily available. I would need some legitimate info on it in order to add it to the list.

I don't know for sure because I bought these second hand, but I think these may have been sold at the track, like how they would make the pole qualifiers and winners.

Speedway Souvenirs used to sell cars in red blister packs at the race tracks with Trackside Souvenirs on the package, but the cars would be repackaged Racing Champions or Revell cars. You have one of those in your list with the same car as the RCCA mug. I've been wondering if these may have been produced by the same company, because these boxes had either RC or Revell cars in them, or sometimes Funstuf Pit Row cars.

I do have a version I picked up that was just the normal car with decals on it, seen in the front below, but the other two I'm pretty sure are tampos. It can be hard to tell, but I've found that putting it under a microscope can help tell good decals apart from tampos. The thing that really sells this to me as an actually produced car is the quality of the box which is very similar to the Keystone promo above.

Thanks for sharing that info. What’s interesting is that all three of those Skoal cars are different. the “SKOAL” lettering and the Bandit Logo are different on all three. I could add that one though as it seems like a legitimate production car.

As for the RCCA car in the Speedway Souvenirs blister package, that one I have on the list.I was surprised by that one when I found it during my research.

You're correct that all 3 are different. It's been a while since I took these out and looked at them and I was misremembering. I said 1 is clearly decals and the other two look like tampos but it's actually 2 that look like decals and 1 that looks like tampos.

I don't want to highjack this thread but I wanted to try to get to the bottom of this so I broke out the digital microscope again. Here are some close ups. Skipping the car on the bottom in my previous post since the decals are rough enough to see with the naked eye at a distance, we'll just look at the top two.

For the first car, you can see the clear decal edge on the hood.
Motor vehicle Automotive tire Automotive exterior Bumper Font

Some customs are harder to see than others, especially if they did a good job cutting the decals on the color borders and have a smooth application of clear coat over top, but it seems like you can always find the edge if you really look. Here's an example of a Ken Schrader Kodiak custom where they did a pretty good job of cutting but you can see a corner under the left ear where they didn't quite follow.
Felidae Art Font Painting Big cats

Here is the other Gant car where it looks to me like a tampo. You can see a white line on the top but this looks to me like a paint overstamp. That's not the light reflecting on a decal edge, it's really white paint.
Font Drink Carmine Oval Logo

This isn't totally uncommon on Racing Champions. Here's a Gant Manheim car where you can see the same kind of green overstamp on the left side of the hood.
Green Font Number Signage Rectangle

Now you might also notice that the white paint of the Skoal looks a little different than the black on the Manheim car. The difference though is what color the tampo is and how light it is compared to the painted body underneath. If you look really closely at the O and U and S on the bottom of this Marlin Maxwell House car, you can see the same kind of diagonal white lines in the white tampo in a similarly shaded red background to the Skoal's green background. These lines can also be seen in the I and T and in the borders of the other letters in the Skoal Bandit picture above.
Font Signage Automotive exterior Wood Rectangle

Here are the differences in the Bandit logos. Here's the first car.
Head Human body Jaw Organism Art

And the second which you can see perfectly follows the contours of the hood and wiper cowl. I've seen people be able to do this with decals too but it's especially hard to cut perfectly on white outlines that aren't solid and also apply this well along these kinds of contours I think without since indication of the decal. If you look closely you can see the clear decal outline outside the rough white border in the logo above that you can't see in this one.
Font Badge Emblem Symbol Logo

And for good measure here is the Skoal on the rear fender of the 2nd car compared to the similar Maxwell House tampo.
Sports equipment Automotive tire Black Helmet Font

Tire Automotive tail & brake light Wheel Automotive lighting Motor vehicle

What's really interesting here, and something I misremembered, is that if you agree the 2nd car does look like tampos, that's not the one that came with the box. The decal version above is the one that came in the box. I looked on eBay and found a couple other cars listed with this box, and every listing was clearly a different custom car.

So I feel like with all this digging all I've done is made the mystery deeper. Where did this box come from and is the tampo version a real promo release?

Great Info as always! It is still unclear who released/distributed the tampo printed car. That car looks more professionally “produced” than the others and is very cool. I’d love to find out more info on that one.

When I first saw the one in the green box on ebay a while back I honestly thought it was custom made and didn’t consider it as a production car to add to the list. It appears there are inconsistencies with the cars in that box too. It could be that a vendor made these with decals and had some boxes printed to sell at the tracks. That last one you just posted is an Olds too, not a Lumina like the others.

I think every version I've seen come up with the same green box has been a custom and they've all been different. They're either Luminas or Oldsmobiles, but even the Luminas are different years or have different wheels and even when they're the same castings, they have different decals it seems like.

The boxes are always identical though and high quality so my guess is that someone at least professionally made and released 1,000 of those boxes at some point. I really wish they had a date or specific race printed on them at least.
