It looks like there is a large group out there that does not understand the concept of ingenuity and being creative. It is their belief that if their favorite is not winning then the ones who are, are cheating.
Ingenuity and creativeness has always been a part of all sports, creating more and better competition. So why should NASCAR be any different?
As examples take in the following as starters:
Tennis: From a wooden small head racket to the large high tech synthetic compound rackets they use today. What was their governing bodies’ reaction? They accepted the new rackets and moved on. The only real variable in Tennis now is the playing surface.
Golf: Wood to high tech synthetic compound clubs, heads, and balls. Of course some of the new equipment is not allowed in many tournaments. You call that progress? From what little I know about golf it’s governing bodies are no different than NASCAR. Except that their powers that be are mired in tradition resistant to change.
Football: Compare the changes that have taken place to the past. How would you like to watch a football game where teams have to use same formations, plays, and field environments? Would that not create a more equal playing field for all teams?
I could go on and on but the bottom line is that ingenuity and being creative are responsible for creating more competition in sports not to mention the things we use in our everyday life.
Back to NASCAR, they could have changed when the auto manufactures started downsizing. They could have incorporated the changes into current stock production cars and kept real stock car racing alive. But they did not, so here we are today headed to generic racing in NASCAR with no room for ingenuity and creativeness.
I am fully aware that change is inevitable. The question is how it is addressed when it comes your way. Removing ingenuity and creativeness from anything is not good.
