CONCORD, N.C. -- Dale Jarrett's next delivery for sponsor UPS will be to Michael Waltrip Racing teammate David Reutimann.

The 1999 Nextel Cup champion will drive the first six races of the 2008 season in the No. 44 UPS Toyota, then hand it over to Reutimann. Jarrett will also run the all-star race in Charlotte while Reutimann will handle the remainder the season.

Until then, Reutimann will drive the No. 00 that he has driven this season.

"In no way shape or form was I asked to reduce my schedule by UPS or Michael [Waltrip]," Jarrett said.

Jarrett is retiring even though he has a full year left on his contract with MWR. He is expected to follow in the footsteps of his father, Ned, as a television commentator.

Jarrett's final race will come at Martinsville Speedway, where his career began in 1984 with a 14th place finish.

Since his first start at Martinsville Speedway in 1984, Jarrett has won 32 races and finished in the top five in points eight times, including seven straight from 1996 to 2002 at Robert Yates Racing.

He left RYR this season to help Waltrip usher Toyota into the sport. He used his six past champion provisionals to make the 43-car field by the ninth race.

He's missed 11 of the last 22 events, including Saturday's race at Lowe's Motor Speedway.
