Kenny Wallace out of #78 ride? hearing Kenny Wallace and the #78 Furniture Row team have parted ways effective immediately, no word who will drive the car at Michigan this weekend.(8-14-2007)
UPDATE: Furniture Row Racing, a Denver-based Nextel Cup Series racing team, announced today that Kenny Wallace is stepping down as the driver of car #78. Officials for the team have stated that Wallace will remain with the team as a consultant and will be called upon to run races as needed, but that he will also be available to drive for another team. Joe Garone, Team Manager for Furniture Row Racing, said: "Kenny has been the perfect driver for us as we have looked to his veteran experience during our first year-and-half in the Cup Series. His personality has brought much positive exposure to the team and to Furniture Row Companies, the team¹s owner and sponsor. This has included winning the fan vote to participate in this year¹s All-Star Challenge events." Looking at the remainder of this season, officials for Furniture Row Racing have said that they will be intensifying efforts to fine tune their performance in preparation for next season¹s run. Wallace added: "I've enjoyed my run as the primary driver for Furniture Row despite all the challenges of a new team. I look forward to helping them as they move forward in building a program that will be competitive for many years to come."(Furniture Row Racing PR), no word who will drive at Michigan or the rest of the season, Sterling Marlin had been rumored as a driver for FRR's 2nd team for 2008 and is available since he was released by Ginn Racing before the DEI-Ginn Racing merger.(8-14-2007)

If Wimmer is smart, he will pass on that one. I don't think that's a wise decision. Underfunded and in a bad place geographically. Just not a good combination, IMO.

Its just for one race. At least its more seat time for him.

I'm not sure if its offical as of yet, but if Scott does race for them its only once, the past few weeks not being able to see Scott race in Busch hasn't been fun, but I'd love to see him run with the 78 team one race in Cup while Burton takes his turn in the 29, even if he doesn't do good.

Good point. I wasn't thinking about that. Brain fart I guess.

At least Wimmer will have something to do this weekend. Three RCR cars in the Busch race and Wimmer isn't in any of them. I hope he can make the race. Which brings me to a question...

This is the race of the '57 Chevys... they were SUPPOSED to make diecasts of all the cars. Did they? I'd like to get that #78 Furniture Row car if it was actually made.

Unless Winners Circle makes them you won't be able to. M/A cancelled his 57 chevy car.
