Childress Busch team taking a look at Stephen Leicht for next season
By JIM UTTER - The Charlotte Observer
CONCORD, N.C. - NASCAR Busch Series driver Stephen Leicht, who earned his first series victory earlier this season, has been approached by Richard Childress Racing with the possibility of sharing its No. 21 Chevrolet ride with another driver next season, the Observer has learned.
Leicht, 20, was recently released by Robert Yates Racing, which is restructuring next season and is not likely to field at Busch teams.
RCR is looking to run the No. 21 fulltime next season but with at least two drivers. Also candidates to share the ride are current RCR driver Scott Wimmer and current RCR development driver Tim McCreadie, sources confirmed.
Leicht, however, has previously stated his preference would be to run a fulltime schedule in the series next season.
