Dylan Lupton will join RSS Racing for the next three NASCAR XFINITY Series events, driving the No. 93 Chevrolet Camaro.
Lupton announced the deal Tuesday on SiriusXM Speedway with Dave Moody. He will race alongside teammate Ryan Sieg at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Phoenix International Raceway, and Auto Club Speedway. Although the deal is for a handful of starts, Lupton is confident he can make the most out of the three races.
“I’m incredibly thankful for this opportunity to partner with RSS Racing,” said Lupton. “I met with the Sieg family on several occasions last year and we’ve been working ever since to partner for some races. Hopefully, we can do well on this three race stretch and do more this season.”
A graduate of the NASCAR Next program, Lupton isn’t new to XFINITY competition; the driver made eight starts last season, wheeling the No. 25 for Athenian Motorsports. He finished ninth at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, his first top-10 finish in his XFINITY career. His three-year stretch in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West resulted in two wins, 13 top-fives, and 26 top-10s.
Former Sprint Cup Series crew chief Mike Ford will be paired with Lupton for the next three races. The two worked together at Athenian Motorsports, and having that relationship is crucial for finding success out west.
“Having Mike [Ford] with us during this stretch should be very beneficial,” added Lupton. “Mike and I worked together last season, so we are very comfortable with each other, and he knows what I’m looking for in a racecar. We know that performance is going to be important for these three races, and I feel like with Mike’s addition, our chances are as good as any to meet our goals.”
RSS Racing found success in 2015; after finishing in the top-15 seven times, Sieg scored an eighth-place finish at Kansas Speedway late in the season. Results like that are important to a small operation, and Lupton hopes he and Sieg can bring the organization more recognition.
“The Sieg’s have been able to do a lot with the tools they have to work with and together, we want to showcase that they can do more with a two-car team,” Lupton said, adding, “Together, we feel that this is a great opportunity and look forward to putting both cars in position for good, strong solid finish the next three weeks.”
