anything with Montoya will be big, pretty much count on that. He is a posterboy soon to join the ranks of mass marketing like the 3, 8, 20, 24, and 48. They WANT the crossover fans from openwheel. He is a talent, cannot deny that, just anxious to see if he gets the goldenboy treatment like the others.

i wonder if they will make all 4 gum cars or not

CHARLOTTE -- The Wm. Wrigley Jr. Company (NYSE: WWY) today announced a partnership with Evernham Motorsports and driver Kasey Kahne, in which the 2006 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series wins leader will drive the No. 9 Wrigley’s Doublemint Dodge during the NASCAR Busch Series race at Phoenix International Raceway on November 10, 2007.

“Kasey joins NASCAR drivers Juan Pablo Montoya, Reed Sorenson and David Stremme to create a dynamic Wrigley’s racing team with a proven record for success,” said Paul Chibe, Wrigley’s Vice President of U.S. Marketing. “Big Red, Juicy Fruit, Winterfresh, Doublemint and Wrigley’s Spearmint have become part of American popular culture and aligning with NASCAR is a natural step in continuing to grow the iconic brands.”

The No. 9 Wrigley’s Doublemint Dodge will feature a distinctive green paint scheme, reflecting the unique packaging and flavor that has made Doublemint one of the world’s best-selling chewing gums since the brand’s launch in 1914.

Each of the cars in the Wrigley’s racing team – Montoya’s bold black and red No. 42 Wrigley’s Big Red Dodge, Sorenson’s signature yellow No. 41 Wrigley’s Juicy Fruit Dodge and Stremme’s cool, crisp blue No. 41 Wrigley’s Winterfresh Dodge – were designed with paint schemes that mirror the iconic packaging that makes these popular chewing gums distinctive.

“Like many kids, I grew up chewing Doublemint, so it’s an honor that Wrigley has asked me to take the gum on its inaugural lap around the track,” said Kasey Kahne. “While Reed, David, Juan Pablo and I race for two different teams on the NASCAR circuit, we’re linked together through these great Wrigley brands. I have a lot of respect for those guys and look forward to racing them on the track each week.”

you would think they would try and run all in either busch or all in cup, not 3 in busch and 1 in cup, imo

The Wm. Wrigley Jr. Company will make its NASCAR debut with a partnership with Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates that features Wrigley’s Spearmint, Doublemint, Big Red, Juicy Fruit and Winterfresh brands. Wrigley will sponsor rising stars Reed Sorenson and David Stremme, who will drive the No. 41 Dodge in the first 25 Busch Series races in 2007, and former Indianapolis 500 champion and Formula One driver Juan Pablo Montoya, who will drive the No. 42 Big Red® Dodge in three NEXTEL Cup races for the 2007 NASCAR season.

“We are looking forward to joining the excitement and fun that is NASCAR racing,” said Paul Chibe, Wrigley’s Vice President of U.S. Marketing. “Now is the perfect time for us to align our well-loved Wrigley brands with stock car racing and this strong lineup of outstanding drivers to reach millions of dedicated, loyal NASCAR fans.”
Sorenson and Stremme will alternate as the driver of the No. 41 car on the first 25 races of the Busch Series. Their car will feature a rotating paint scheme of Wrigley’s Spearmint, Doublemint, Juicy Fruit, and Winterfresh brands. Wrigley will be an associate sponsor of the car for the remaining 10 races. When Montoya grabs the wheel of the No. 42 Big Red Dodge for three NASCAR NEXTEL Cup races, his car and uniform will feature a bold black-and-red Big Red color scheme, setting him apart from the pack. Wrigley, through its Big Red brand, will also be an associate sponsor of the car for the remaining 33 races.

I will have to get both of those and Kahne's Doublemint Dodge sometime this year. I can't wait to meet Montoya, he is someone I never thought I would have the chance to meet.

I don't doubt the hispanic fan perspective at all. I have a neighbor who is a HUGE openwheel fan and has already said I might have to teach him about this "Nascar thing" now that Montoya is comming into the circuit. Too funny. Race fans are race fans, and they (France and co.) want any money they can get. Hispanic, openwheel fan, or otherwise. Marketing is a huge fronteir they know all too well.
