The final pieces of several puzzles are coming together in the week prior to the Verizon IndyCar 2016 season opener in St. Petersburg, Florida. Sebastien Bourdais and the KVSH Racing team announced Monday they would partner with Mouser Electronics and Molex LLC for the year.
“We are excited to welcome back both Mouser Electronics and Molex to help us chase the 2016 Verizon IndyCar championship,” said KVSH co-owner James “Sulli” Sullivan.
“Mouser and Molex fuel us with the resources we need to ‘Stay Connected’ to the cutting-edge components world and enable us to stay at the sharp end of the grid within the IndyCar series.”
Mouser Electronics will be on board with Bourdais for his 11th IndyCar season and his third with KVSH Racing. He won twice with this team last year, at Detroit and Milwaukee. In their first season together, Bourdais won at Toronto from the pole and had another pole at Mid-Ohio.
Bourdais wants to reward Mouser Electronics for their belief in the team’s ability to repeat.
“I am excited to have the support of Mouser Electronics and Molex,” Bourdais said. “Both companies have been with KVSH Racing before and enjoyed a lot of success. For them to return is a vote of confidence in what we are doing here. I look forward to bringing them the kind of success they deserve.”
Bourdais hopes that the partnership will be the boost he needs to return to championship form, which his team co-owners think is possible. He won the Champ Car title in four consecutive seasons from 2004 through 2007 before turning his attention to Formula 1. He finished 10th in the IndyCar standings in each of the past two seasons and looks for a good 2016 as a single-car team.
The 2016 Verizon IndyCar Series season opens March 11-13 on the St. Petersburg street circuit.
