I was talking to a good friend that works the tracks on the east coast doing news reports. He told me last night that the new news leaking out of the Garages is Dale Jr. will be driving for Mountain Dew next tear. Still no news on what # he will actually be running. Other news on the front is that Jimmie Johnson may be leaving Hendricks and drive for JGM next year. The word there is that Jimmie Johnson is getting to big for his britches, ( NO you don't say  ) That's Jeff Gordon Motorsports?? If and I say if that happens then the next piece of news to unfold behind that is that Tony Stewart may be leaving Joe Gibbs racing. Tony Stated to several New media personel that he has no intrest driving for Toyota no matter who the team owner is or what amount of money is put in front of him. He will drive a Chevy or he won't drive. Now here is where it really gets intresting. Is Joe Gibbs going to Toyota next year? If all this unfolds then Hendricks is already talking to Stewart about moving over to Hendricks if that takes place. There are also a number of other off season rumors floating around the track but most have no leads to where they will be going. But here are the names of those that may be leaving to go to other teams next year. J.J. Yeley, Elliot Sadler, Reed Sorenson, Ryan Newman and Kurt Busch, Of course we know that Kyle Busch is moving on to another team. I just thought a lot of this news was intresting and something to watch, but again all these may be some just rumors or some may be happening and others not. Guess we will watch and see what actually unfolds later this year!!!

Sounds a bit out there, but I wouldn't see Gordon giving a ride to Johnson, if Hendrick didn't use him. Gordon and Hendrick are too close.
But if Tony went to Hendrick, wadda team huh? Jr., Gordon and Stweart on the same team? Damn wadda line up. Prolly won't happen either but makes for some interesting bench racing fodder....

stewart, gordon and earnhardt, jr. together? 3 totally different people personality wise. although i can see j. johnson not liking what he sees at hendricks, and maybe knaus has pushed the gray area one to many times. i can't see that working. but, i'm not real good at predictions. i agree with an earlier statement. .........jr. racing for mountain dew sounds the most likely of all that.

Guy's like I said, Is this rumor? Alot of it sounds kind of out there but the source I talked to was pretty close to the scene. I don't know? As for Jimmie, Yes Gordon already is listed as the owner,BUT Hendricks is a part owner of the car. Now this is just my opinion on this but hear me out. If Gordon started another team and Hendricks still owned a portion into the team but it was listed as Gordons team wouldn't this actually allow that stable to have more than four cars for next year? Sounds to me like another one of those Grey areas where a little in depth thought and you have figured out another way to turn the rule book into your favor. Hendricks stable has been known to do more than that to get the grey areas turned in their favor in the4 past.......

My thoughts exactly Larkin. Maybe that is why Roush parterned with Fenway to pass a car on to Fenway Racing in the coming years and it would be separate from Roush but it would be a Roush car. It does seem ironic with the 4 car cap coming a lot of teams are going out and getting partners...Coincidence?

I heard that Richard Petty and Darryl Waltrip are coming out of retirement to compete full time next year. In addition, Cale Yarborough (sp?) is going to run a part-time schedule as well. In addition, they're going to rename the series the Piston Cup and the newest rookie driver's name is going to be Lightning McQueen. Ricky Bobby will also be joining the series to compete for the Cup. Shake and Bake!!!!

I cant' see Jeff Gordon ever starting his own race team, let alone in a couple years. He just doesn't seem like that kind of person. Does he have any sort of development deal with anybody? Usually some drivers will have some sort of pro stock program or something, even if they have no plans for Busch or Truck ownership. He just doesn't strike me as that out-going. Would rather keep to himself and those close to him; little ambition to do anything but drive.

what would stop them from "saying" its jeff gordon motorsports and still using all of Hendricks equipment? nothing.
what would stop him from buying property from Hendrick and putting up his shop right next to HMS and swapping up everything anyway? nothing.

it would open up several more spots for Hendrick to add more cars to his team without them "being his cars". with the new cap comming i think you will see alot of drivers becoming owners so that they can bring more cars to another team, but on paper it would be a seperate team. its a big loop hole.

they would have to make a rule that you cant drive for one team and own another. but then yet, that wouldnt work either.

Well said Joker, That has been the rumor around Roush ever since the cap was announced. Roush doesn't have any plans on releasing a driver or shutting a team down. That's my biggest bet with all the new mergers/partnerships taking place right now. I wouldn't be surprised if at least a few of the mergers/partnerships, were done with an agreement that the partner would assume full-time ownership of a satellite Cup team. Hell that's basically what Hall of Fame Racing is right now. They get everything from Gibbs.
