I cant post the link as Im in work at the moment, but according to the Stewart Haas facebook page, the team will be switching to ford fusions from 2017.

I hope this is a joke but we'll have to wait and see
Yep. on jayski and twitter now (mods feel free to merge with the other thread about the move)
:confused::confused: that's a very bold move seeing as though Ford isn't as big as Chevy
I don't understand the move TBH. It doesn't make sense to me except maybe $$ wise, I guarantee Ford threw a TON of money at them to make the switch.

Ford Performance announced today Stewart-Haas Racing will switch to Ford as its auto manufacturer partner starting with the 2017 NASCAR season.

“We are thrilled to be able to add a championship-level team like Stewart-Haas Racing to our Ford NASCAR program”
The multiyear agreement means that, beginning with Daytona Speedweeks in February 2017, the four-car Stewart-Haas Racing team will race the Ford Fusion with Ford engines prepared by Roush Yates Engines.
“We are thrilled to be able to add a championship-level team like Stewart-Haas Racing to our Ford NASCAR program,” said Raj Nair, executive vice president and Chief Technical Officer, Ford Motor Company. “Tony Stewart and Gene Haas have the same passion for winning that we do, and bring a strong stable of drivers and personnel that fit into what we’re trying to do in the sport.”
“We have said very clearly that we are not in NASCAR just to race, but to win races and championships,” said Dave Pericak, global director, Ford Performance. “We believe the addition of Stewart-Haas Racing in 2017 will give our program a major boost in terms of being in contention for both drivers’ and manufacturers’ championships every year.
“We believe that our NASCAR engineering experience and tools match up very well with the expertise and personnel that Stewart-Haas Racing has in house right now, and that we will both benefit from this partnership going forward.”
Stewart-Haas Racing will join a Ford NASCAR lineup for 2017 that includes Team Penske, Roush Fenway Racing, Wood Brothers Racing, Richard Petty Motorsports and Front Row Motorsports. Roush Yates Engines is Ford’s technical partner for NASCAR race engines.
Stewart-Haas Racing will continue its current manufacturer relationship throughout the 2016 season.
Stewart-Haas Racing is a NASCAR championship organization that features drivers Tony Stewart, Kevin Harvick, Danica Patrick and Kurt Busch. Stewart, Harvick and Busch have won Sprint Cup titles and Patrick was a winner in the Indycar Series before transitioning to NASCAR. Stewart-Haas Racing has captured 30 points-paying wins, 26 poles and two titles since its inception in 2009.
Clint Bowyer will replace Stewart in the No. 14 car in 2017, as Stewart will retire as a NASCAR driver following the 2016 season. Stewart and Haas will remain co-owners of Stewart-Haas Racing.

WHAT. This doesn't make any sense. It makes sense for Ford, but not for SHR, especially with Tony's long relationship with GM.

Well that came out of nowhere, great news, we need more good quality ford teams and less Chevys

Not sure what to think about this as I really don't like Fords but if Harvick still wins races then I will be ok, just don't expect me to get rid of my Chevy for a Ford ever. :(

This is stunning. I guess that means that Tony is done with NASCAR because he will NEVER race fords. Honestly I'm stunned. Harvick has never been in a ford, he's been a Chevy since his K&N days and Bowyer has never been a Ford. For Busch though I'm sure this is a homecoming.

WOW! This was a surprise to wake up to. Not sure I understand this except they want to get away from the Hendrick umbrella be more independent.
I'm going to wait until I hear and see Tony say he's for this deal.

it makes you wonder if when Tony retires itll pretty much be Gene Haas running the show and if Tony will have any involvement with the team...

he already has apparently

I am proud of our association with Chevrolet as they helped build our organization into the team it is today," said Tony Stewart, co-owner, Stewart-Haas Racing. "This new partnership with Ford allows us to strengthen our position in the sport and ensure the long-term stability and success for everyone who is a part of Stewart-Haas Racing."
This works for me, I guess. I started out as a Ford fan. Tony Stewart himself is the reason I became a Chevrolet fan in the first place. I've really come to love Chevy and will continue to do so, but as a Stewart-Haas fan it's back to the Blue Oval. Going back to Ford is exciting. Especially the fact that the names "Stewart" and "Yates" will be joining forces, since I grew up a Robert Yates Racing fan.

Who knows, maybe Chip Ganassi will get Smoke to run the Rolex 24 for him.

Harvick drove Fords in the Truck Series for Jim Herrick for the entire 1999 season.

Smart move. I'm obviously a Ford guy, so any time a Ford can win (minus Joseph Logano) then I'm a happy camper. This also can only help Roush out too.
