here's mine

1. David Pearson (Could have easily won more races than Petty if he ran full seasons)
2. Dale Sr (Raced in one of the sports most competitive eras and winning 7 titles in almost half the seasons as Petty)
3. Richard Petty (200 wins but ran the most seasons out of them all, competition not as great)
4. Jeff Gordon (When or if he wins #5 he will be #3, or if he passes Pearson)
5 Jimmie Johnson (Nobody will EVER win 5 in a row again)
6. Darrell Waltrip (84 wins, 4th most all time)
7. Bobby Allison (also 84 wins)
8. Tony Stewart (almost 50 wins and 3 titles)
9. Cale Yarbourough (3 straight titles)
10. Bill Elliott (lots of poles, wins, and popularity)

the top ten drivers in my opinion, in no particular order

1. Dale Earnhardt
2. Alan Kulwicki
3. Joe Ruttman
4. Cale Yarborough
5. David Pearson
6. Richard Petty
7. Jeff Gordon
8. Tony Stewart
9. Jimmie Johnson
10. Morgan Shepherd

Ruttman's on the list because he's the oldest winner of a nascar race. Harry Gant is still the oldest winner in cup, but Ruttman won a truck race at age 56.

I'm guessing we are limiting this to NASCAR drivers?

10. Tony Stewart
9. Bobby Allison
8. DW
7. Cale Yarborough
6. Jeff Gordon
5. Junior Johnson
4. Hate to say it, but Jimmie Johnson
3. Pearson
2. Earnhardt Sr.
1. King

Obviously, my list is limited to guys I have either seen race or there is a lot of documented info on them. If I knew more about guys from longer ago, this list would probably be altered. I honestly think, in 15-20 more years, JJ's acomplishments will be more appreciated, and he may well end up being in one of those top 2 spots. It's tough to say that because of what the King and Earnhardt have meant to the sport and to so many people, but the numbers speak for themselves.

I would probably flip the order around some, but those are the names in my top 10.

Here is mine
#1 David Pearson (more than likely he would of past petty in wins maybe championships if he ran as long as petty and the whole season)
#2 Richard petty(cmon the king 200wins 7 championships)
#3 Dale SR ( the intimidator 7 championships did wreck people in some situations but hey that's racing and did when championships in tougher competition at the time)
#4 Jimmie Johnson(5 championships in a row record 50 some wins could break/tie petty and earnhardts championships)
#5 Jeff gordon (4 championships such a big surprise in the 90s excellent driver. in his forties getting up there in age but I still think he can get 5)
#6 Cale Yarborough(3 championships in a row the historical fight who can't forget 4 daytona 500 winner and 5 southern 500 winner)
#7(Bobby Allison won the daytona 500 3times 84 wins 1984 champion the historical fight)
#8(junior Johnson who can forget his moonshine runs one of the most successful owners in NASCAR claiming 6 championships and 132 wins)
#9( Darrel waltrip 3 time champion 84 wins good personality while racing)
#10 (mark Martin/Tony stewart
mark is a good clean driver always coming up short can't get a break 2nd in points 5 times and just came up short winning the 500 Tony stewart 3 time champion/team owner won a championship with his team)
